Marriage

Is marriage made during the wedding ceremony by people or is it made by God in Heaven?

I ask that question, not that I don't think I know the answer, no not at all. I want you to think about the ultimate reality of marriage.

People are drawn to one another in many ways and for many different reasons. God created us to want and need recognition and companionship of other created beings.

Each of us has something in our DNA that sets us up to be vulnerable to a certain type of person. That is the first foundation that we stand on as we, whether knowingly or not, become aware of others and almost immediately decide if we like them or not.

Then there is chemical responses inside us and our own states of being, whether in a vulnerable state or not, that increase our desire to open up to another. Those adults who haven't learned to satisfy their sexual needs in a peaceful manner and comfortable setting, rather than being dependent on others to satisfy those needs, find a more difficult and sometimes hellish existence in this world.

The first steps to mutually satisfying relations that can grow to an embrace of another for long term mutual benefits starts with being the best we can be to and for ourselves.

If we don't believe in God, or a creator that has created us for our best in mind, then we won't seek God's spiritual guidance. We then form relationships with others within parameters of materialistic, physical or sexual needs and desires.

Those who truly seek God to guide them in the selection of their marriage mate will find an assurance and a 'knowing that you know' when that right person is found. All the things in our DNA will testify with our spiritual reality and our faith and love of God that we are with the right person.

That is marriage made in Heaven by God, because it is God that has ordered our steps to be in the right place and right time to find the one who is truly our marriage partner. Such a marriage happens, we become one flesh, by God's design. It is the best of the best for us in that God is the creator of us and of our union with another human being. That comes before a wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony is an affirmation in the world of the decision we have made in agreement with God that we are giving ourselves to one another with marriage vows. Such ceremony can be as simple as two people confessing to one another that they are married and have given themselves to one another 'til death they do part' or to the extreme of expensive, lavish, elaborate spectacles where a third party seems to officially make the marriage a reality.

Regardless of how one gets into the marriage, for those who have the blessing of marriage, it is the most important decision we make in life. It is a first step in fulfilling all our hopes and dreams of becoming the best person we can become and haveing the best of the life God has planned for us.

So, the answer to the question is that God makes marriage in heaven and we simply make the decsion to receive it, embrace it and live in it. It is the fulfillment of our purpose on Earth and the best life we can have as we faithfully and thankfully live in that fulfillment.

Now, the scripture teaches that not all are purposed for marriage. So, if this writing is a complete puzzle to you, you may not get the marriage stuff. It's possible you are one of those that God has created to be married to Him and live in God's service for the fulfillment of your life. You may remain single, in the church, in ministry or service to others for the duration of your life. However, I offer this information to you as well in that it will help you understand the covenant of marriage and how you should relate to those who are married. People who are married should not, and utlitmately will not, seek intimate relations with others. Many may stray from their marriage vows for a time but those who honor and respect themselves will not disavow the vows and promises they made. By exchanging those vows they not only gave themselves to one another but also gave their union into one flesh to God for keeping and fulfillment.

Ultimately we must all find our purpose in life. It is a journey and always starts with the first step. Be sure you take that step trusting God to lead you along the path of honor and respect for yourself and others.

I pray now for you, regardless of your present state of mind or being, that you too will submit to God and the plan for your life that only our Creator can marvelously and magnifincently purpose and sustain.
